Background History of the Company
Ann's Main

Ann's Success is a modest stuffed toy manufacturer with its main office located in San Pablo City, 87 kms. south of Manila. Since 1984, it has served the Philippine Domestic Market with quality stuffed toys. Among its outlets include the biggest department stores in Metro centers particularly SM Shoemart and in other population centers of the islands. It has experienced exporting to many countries like USA, Europe, and Asia for five years. However, at present domestic market has been its main target and has made many promotional items in various industries like hotels, pharmaceuticals, food stores, resorts, etc.

For as long as she could remember, Mrs. Anita C. Articona has always been interested in making stuffed dolls and toys. What started as a mere hobby gradually became a profitable business. She was managing Articona bookstore and gift shop in 1978. In 1980, starting with an ordinary sewing, machine which she borrowed from her mother; she tried to produce some samples. In her stores, she displayed her design of stuffed toys; fortunately she was able to sell her samples.

In 1993, when she found out that her products were saleable and were patronized by customers, she tried to sell them to her suppliers of gift items in Divisoria on consignment basis. After only a week there were already dozens of orders. There were even some customers who wanted her to produce their own designs, so she tried to make them. Due to the increase of orders, there were even some customers who wanted her to produce their own designs, she tried to make them. Due to increase of orders she borrowed two more ordinary sewing machines from her relatives, hired a sewer and a helper. In 1984 Shoemart liked her samples and made an initial order of 100 pieces but later their order increased. Also that year DTI representatives and personnel’s saw her samples. They asked her to join their exhibits in Pagsajan In that exhibit she met local customers of different gift shops and they made lots of orders. She also met one of the representatives of Philcite, who invited her to join their organization named “Tatak Pinoy”. From there she met Coralyn and Dolljoy, who also produced stuffed toys, and the too made orders. At that time she was in need of more machines to produce the stuffed toys that were ordered by her customers, but unfortunately she had no capital, so she told the sewer who applied to her, to bring their own ordinary machines. Mrs. Articona taught then how makes the stuffed toys and the production went on. In 1985, she had to rent a house to have more space for machinery’s and for more working space, here she paid the rent for 1,500 monthly. From there on she started to buy 1 or 2 second-hand high-speed machines.

For that house that she rented as the business grew and orders in she had to build her own factory. However, unfortunately since she had no other source of income and income lack of capital she just turned her house into a factory and office. She joined a number of exhibits in CITEM and was visited by foreign buyers in 1987 but they wanted her to have a better place for the production of the products. In due time, since she had a number of offers for subcontractor in foreign countries she was forced to build her factory by second hand high speed sewing machines.

Since Ann’s Success started in 1985. Mrs. Articona has exported her products to Australia, Germany, USA, London and France; and has done sub contractual job with big companies here in the Philippines.

At present the company is managed by Mrs. Anita Articona as the General Manager and handles production management with the help of her husband Mr. Federico Articona. Her son Winston as the Marketing Manager, daughter Maricris as the Finance Manager, Wendell as the Product Analyst, and her other son Winifred who helps in the design of the products. With a staff of 25 persons composed of office personnel, sales personnel, supervisors, and 50 to 70 factory workers.
