LdSP Observes Priest Day |
The Campus Youth Ministry and Religion Department of Liceo de San Pablo especially organized the priest day last August 4, 2008 at the school gymnasium. The said affair was the Liceo de San Pablo’s simple way of expressing their deep love and appreciation to the priests for their untiring spiritual guidance to the school and the whole community, in general.
A holy eucharisitc mass officiated by our school chaplain, Rev. Msgr. Melchor C. Barcenas, JVL, VG. opened the program. In his homily, Msgr. Barcenas pointed out the life’s struggle of the priests and their needs of support from the people. He also stressed the importance of deepening our religious faith from God. An inspiring message from our school principal, Dr. Zenaida M. Buenaseda, followed after the mass. She mentioned that the priests, like humans, have so many flaws and are capable of committing mistakes so they need a lot of understanding and support.
After the students had given a few minutes break, they were assembled again in the gymnasium for the second part of the program. Selected students from both elementary and high school departments presented a dance number. Much to the delightment of everyone, the LdSP Performing Artist performed an electrifying modern dance number. But just as everyone was waiting for the next performer, Mr. Jojo H. Amante, our very own guidance counselor rendered a song “Angels Brought me Here” which made the crowd grew wild.
The highlight of the said affair was the basketball match–up game between the faculty members and maintenance against the invited priests. Cheers from the crowd could be heard anywhere as the teachers and religious leaders actively played the best game of their lives. The faculty members won the said game. Exhausted they maybe after the game, the two teams were smiling because teamwork and unity among them were evidently achieved.
The LdSP community was, indeed, thankful to the priests for taking their time out to be with the school in that particular day. The priests, on the other hand, expressed their gratitude to the support given by the school to them and promised to continue giving their spiritual guidance and support to the school.
