Catholic education is part and parcel of the mission entrusted by Christ to the Church he founded. Through education, the Church seeks to prepare her members to proclaim the Good News, and to translate this proclamation into action.

The educational mission of the Church is an integrated ministry embracing here interlocking purposes: the message revealed by God which the Christian community and the entire human race. While these three essential elements can be separated for the sake of analysis, they are actually joined together in one education ministry. Each educational program of institution under the Church’s sponsoring has to contribute in its capacity to the realization of the threefold purpose within the total educational ministry.

The Church’s educational mission takes from in the different programs and institutions adapted to the needs of those to be educated. Among the educational programs available to the Catholic community, Catholic schools offer the best opportunity to realize the threefold purpose of Catholic education for the children and the youth.

Catholic schools naturally enjoy educational advantages which offer educational programs either cannot afford, or can afford with great difficulty. The Catholic school has a greater claim on the time and loyalty of the student and his family. It makes more accessible to the students frequent participation in the liturgy and the sacraments, which are powerful of a Christian community. It provides a more congenial pedagogical and psychological environment for witnessing the Christian faith.

I the light of these principles, the Diocesan Catholic Schools System becomes inevitable an integral part of the pastoral plan of the Diocese. It is meant to provide for the Christian formation of the children and the youth. While its mission is religious education, it goes beyond mere imparting of religious knowledge. It is geared towards making religion permeate the personal lives of the students by seeing them grow in the Christian values, thus making religion a reality in their everyday life.

To ensure that our students understand a living religion, the Catholic school should create the religious environment necessary to foster among the students a sense of vocation to service.

We therefore affirm with Vatican II, that the Catholic schools “perform an authentic apostolate” (CE8), the working of this apostolate, means “performing a unique and invaluable work for the Church”.

1. To strengthen the coordination of the among schools to be able to deliver quality Catholic Education.
2. To strengthen Religion as the core of the curriculum.
3. To intensify the schools’ capacity to provide a deepened Faith, committed service to those enrolled in Liceo schools.
4. To maintain the schools image and integrity as a dynamic leaders in the management of Catholic Schools in the Diocese.
5. To modernize its educational service in order to meet the challenges of illiteracy, technology and communication.
