San Pablo City National High School’s Filipino Department conducted this year’s Lakan at Mutya, as the highlight of its various activities held throughout the month of August, SPCNHS Gymnasium, August 30.
The aforementioned event was the last one among the activities held as part of the annually celebrated Buwan ng Wika.
The program started with a doxology performed by the SPCNHS Dance Troupe followed by the National Anthem led by Mrs. Marlyn Cabrera, Filipino teacher. Mrs. Abdolla T. Borce gave her opening remarks, which is concerned about the essence of maintaining Filipino as our National Language. This was followed by the messages given by Ms. Muriel Andrea V. Maghirang, ES1- OIC and Mrs. Francisca G. Ril, Filipino Division Supervisor.
After the intermission number of the contestants of Isahang Tinig, the candidates of Lakan at Mutya started to ramp with their exquisite costumes.
The following students were announced as winners: Jeyvie C. Odiame and Jasmine Tolentino of IV- Science as Lakan at Mutya ng Wika 2008, respectively; Vhing Aldrin Dimaano (III- Mars) and Chrizelle B. Gonzales (IV- Diamond) as Lakan at Mutya ng Panitikan; and Christian Palmenco (IV- Diamond) and Maria Allaine Mulimbayan (II- Guijo) as Lakan at Mutya ng Balarila.
The event was hosted by Kiarra Mae Mojica, IV- Science and Romella Amoranto, III- Jupiter.
